The Division of Medicinal Chemistry is part of the Otto Loewi Research Center for Vascular Biology, Immunology and Inflammation. A common denominator of staff research activities is the development of innovative analytical and diagnostic procedures for early detection, risk profile determination and progress monitoring of disease. Interdisciplinary cooperation within and outside the Otto Loewi Research Center and with clinical divisions is a matter of course. Research areas include HPLC-assisted analytical techniques, the development and application of special methods for coagulation analysis and detection of oxidized lipoproteins in serum, plasma and tissue. Basic research is always conducted on the relationship between detectable analytes and pathological processes. The division employs the most up-to-date computer-based methods for design and synthesis of artificial proteins.
