Modern teaching in medicinal chemistry rests upon two foundations: first, the content must constantly be revised and enhanced to accommodate advances in research; second, it must be goal-oriented and embedded into the structure of other theoretical and clinical disciplines in the curriculum in order to integrate acquired knowledge and competencies effectively and sustainably into the overall context of the study of medicine. Both requirements are supported and promoted by the active research of instructors who communicate with instructors/researchers within the theoretical research centers of the Medical University of Graz and outside it in a large number of research cooperations.
